Great Star of Africa

Great Star of Africa

The Largest Diamond in the World

The Great Star of Africa, also known as the Cullinan diamond, is the largest diamond ever discovered. It was found in South Africa in 1905 and weighed 3,106 carats in its rough form. The diamond was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan, the owner of the mine where it was found.

The Cullinan diamond was cut into nine larger stones and 96 smaller stones, and the largest of these is the Great Star of Africa. It is a pear-shaped diamond weighing 530.4 carats and is set in the Sceptre with the Cross, one of the British Crown Jewels.

The Great Star of Africa is considered one of the most famous and valuable diamonds in the world. Its size and clarity make it a popular attraction for tourists visiting the Tower of London, where it is on display.
